Building History
The first building to be erected on the site at Westbourne was a Tin Chapel in 1885. This was used for worship and service until it was badly damage during the Second world war (1939 – 1945) The school rooms where built in 1906 next to the Chapel.
The 8th Hartlepool Boys Brigade, who had called Westbourne home for 87 years. They started using the schoolrooms in 1936
After the Chapel was damaged during the war, Sunday worship and services continued in the schoolrooms, This was refurbished as a worship centre which was re-dedicated in may 2000. The tin Chapel was demolished in 1999 and the land where the Chapel stood is still green belt today (2023).
The schoolrooms became too big for use as a worship centre, The congregation of Westbourne parted and moved to other Churches for worship, the building stopped being used for worship in 2020.
The building is now a Methodist community hub in partnership with Hartlepool boys Brigade.
