Encounter
Encounter is for people to come together, exploring life and faith through a variety of ways, and then taking practical action to support the communities we live in. You don’t have to come to every session, and you are welcome to dip in and out of what interests you.
It is about having the space where people can come together to chat about life and faith, without feeling pressured in anyway. It is about exploring and asking questions. It is about not knowing the answers, but learning together what they may or may not be.
Encounter is built on these four values:
Love: Encounter is for all people, no judgement and lots of respect. As we come together, we welcome each other, listen to one another and learn. We are not perfect, it is alright not to be ok, and we do not have all the answers, but we can learn together.
Hope: Encounter is about finding hope when life can be busy and stressful. During these times, it can feel like hope fades away or even disappears altogether. Encounter is a place where you can come and find hope again.
Faith: Encounter is about having space to explore and question what faith is, for us and our community. What is faith to me and my life? What is it about faith that enables us to live in today’s world? What is it about faith that causes division and how can that be overcome? Just some of the questions that we may talk about.
Action: Encounter is about supporting each other and the communities we live in through practical action. This is about asking our communities what is needed? How can this be done? And who do we need to work with? We can learn and help in building a community where all people are cared for and supported through practical action.
